Job Overview

This 13-week travel Surgical Technologist position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic Operating Room environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care. As a skilled Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment, and participating in ongoing education and training to enhance your professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for surgery by administering preoperative medications, positioning them correctly on the operating table, and ensuring they are comfortable throughout the procedure\
• Coordinate with anesthesia providers to secure oxygen, airway management equipment, and monitor vital signs\
• Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth workflow\
• Maintain accurate records of patient information, surgical procedures, and outcomes\
• Manage inventory and ordering supplies, including sutures, needles, and consumables\
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to address concerns and promote positive relationships\
• Implement infection control protocols and adhere to standard precautions to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens\
• Operate surgical equipment, including retractors, suction devices, and lights\
• Support surgeons and other medical staff during emergency situations, such as cardiac arrests or hemorrhages\
• Document complications, injuries, or adverse events\
• Engage in debriefing sessions with colleagues to discuss successes, challenges, and areas for improvement\
• Requirements:\

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program\
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)\
  • 1-3 years recent experience working in an Operating Room setting\
  • Strong understanding of surgical principles and practices\
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and protocols\
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods\
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills\
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment\
  • Continuous learning and professional development commitment\
  • Compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards\
  • Affiliation with a professional organization such as the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)\
  • Provision of COVID-19 series and booster documentation\
  • Preferred Qualifications:\

    • Experience working in a teaching hospital\
    • Additionalspecialty experience (e.g., robotics, ENT, plastics, oncology)\
    • HCHS certification\
    • Prior experience with particular surgical instruments or equipment\
    • Familiarity with electronic health records systems\
