The UM6P CoreLab is a research and service-providing platform managed in a centralized and simplified manner to facilitate access to a wide range of technologies, expertise, and services offered to UM6P researchers and external clients. The life sciences CoreLab is part of a set of laboratories intended to support technical and scientific approaches in the fields of research and service providing.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibilities are focused on molecular genetic bench work including:
- Sample reception and identification
- Sample preparation,
- DNA extraction, PCR, next generation library preparation (DNA extraction, PCR, indexing, normalization, pooling, and sequencing),
- Sanger sequencing and qPCR assays.
- Participate in the validation of the developed methods according to the quality system (tests for method validation, SOP redaction…)
- Knowledge of other analytical techniques is considered an asset.
- Maintaining lab equipment and a clean lab space and supporting supply ordering.
- Active involvement in various laboratory activities.
- Participate in the supply and stock management of genomic laboratory consumables (solvents, standards, small equipment, etc.).
- Apply health and safety rules relating to using chemicals, cryogenic liquids, and measuring equipment.
- Participate in the platform certification process.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Experience with various (DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, next-generation library preparation, and Sanger sequencing.).
- Knowledge and experience working with and maintaining molecular genetic laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, independently motivated, time management skills, and experience troubleshooting.
- Fluency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access or equivalent.
- Familiarity with lab safety protocols and regulations.
- Good communication skills (French and English).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task without compromising quality and accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
