About the Internship
Paid Internship — DICOM Viewer / Medical Imaging Engineer
Our engineering work is grounded in
real clinical use cases
and close collaboration with healthcare professionals. We build software that operates within
actual radiology workflows
, where correctness, performance, and reliability matter.
As a
Medical Imaging Engineering Intern
, you will contribute to the development of a
DICOM medical imaging viewer
used in production environments. This role is hands-on and technical, focused on imaging data, visualization, and system performance rather than theoretical prototypes.
You will work alongside experienced engineers on software that supports
diagnostic imaging
, gaining exposure to the realities of healthcare systems, medical standards, and production-level constraints.
Curiosity, rigor, and a willingness to deeply understand complex systems are essential. You will be encouraged to explore beyond a single layer of the stack and develop a strong engineering mindset in medical software.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the
core development of a DICOM viewer - Implement
2D and 3D medical image visualization
(slices, stacks, volumes) - Develop image interaction features such as window/level, zoom, pan, overlays, and annotations
- Handle
large image series
while respecting performance and memory constraints - Participate in
integration with PACS / RIS systems - Gradually work with advanced imaging tools (MPR, MIP, measurements)
- Collaborate with senior engineers to understand clinical and technical requirements
- Maintain clear technical documentation of implemented features and logic
- Learn and apply best practices related to medical imaging software and visualization
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Solid understanding of
2D image processing concept - sFamiliarity with
3D visualization fundamental
