Backend Tech Lead

Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Backend Tech Lead to spearhead the development of our Laravel-based DMS platform.

You'll lead the backend architecture for a complex, multi-tenant SaaS solution that manages everything from vehicle inventory and CRM to automated social media posting and omnichannel customer communications.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership

• Lead the backend development team in building a scalable, modular Laravel 12 application
• Design and implement microservices architecture using Apache Kafka for inter-module communication
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and workflows for automotive industry compliance
• Drive technical decisions for database architecture, API design, and third-party integrations
• Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews with focus on automotive business logic

Architecture & Development

• Design and implement multi-tenant architecture supporting single and multi-location dealerships
• Build robust APIs for inventory management, CRM, sales documentation, and financial operations
• Develop event-driven architecture for real-time inventory updates and lead management
• Create scalable integrations with automotive data providers, marketplace APIs (Facebook, Craigslist), and advertising platforms
• Implement complex business logic for automotive workflows (reconditioning tracking, lead scoring, automated follow-ups)

Platform Integration

• Lead integration efforts with third-party automotive services (DMS systems, auction platforms, financing partners)
• Design API architecture for omnichannel communication (SMS, email, Messenger, website chat)
• Build automated posting systems for inventory distribution across multiple marketplaces
• Implement social media automation and advertising management APIs (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, TikTok)

Performance & Scalability

• Optimize database queries and implement caching strategies for high-traffic automotive marketplaces
• Design auto-scaling infrastructure using AWS EKS and containerization
• Implement queue systems for inventory updates, image processing, and automated communications
• Ensure sub-second response times for critical dealership operations

Quality & Security

• Establish comprehensive testing strategies including automotive-specific business logic validation
• Implement security best practices for financial data, customer information, and API integrations
• Design disaster recovery and backup strategies for mission-critical dealership operations
• Ensure GDPR compliance and automotive industry data protection standards

Required QualificationsTechnical Expertise

• 8+ years of Laravel development experience (Eloquent ORM, Artisan, ecosystem)
• 5+ years in technical leadership roles managing development teams
• Expertise in PHP 8.3+, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, RESTful API development
• Strong experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems (Kafka preferred)
• Proficiency with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, EKS, Lambda) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures and database sharding strategies

Integration & API Experience

• Extensive experience with third-party API integrations (social media, payments, communication)
• Knowledge of webhook implementations and real-time data synchronization
• Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, Laravel Sanctum, JWT authentication
• Strong understanding of rate limiting, API versioning, backward compatibility strategies
