Responsibilities

  • Correct interpretation of current rules and regulations in Morocco relevant to the customs regimes used (currently temporary admission / ATPA) and subsequent design and / or adjustment of relevant business processes and policies to ensure compliance in execution, working together with internal and external business partners and functions
  • Creates and fosters awareness and understanding of Import and Export rules and regulations by providing concise updates of changes in relevant laws, regulations and data, and aligns any resulting required process adjustments with the relevant internal and external partners to ensure compliance in execution.
  • Oversees day to day work in relevant import and export processes executed by internal and external partners, provides support and is involved in execution of day to work actively;
  • Workload management
  • Review of accuracy of import and export declarations made by customs agents, actioning and follow-up of any required corrections or document completion
  • Maintenance of internal import / export tracking databases
  • Collection, consolidation and logical storage of all relevant import and export documentation
  • Exchange of required information with customs broker / suppliers to complete execution of imports and exports
  • Manages and facilitates internal and external (customs) audits
  • Acts as center point of contact for customs brokers and suppliers to manage import and export processes and to mitigate any obstacles or bottlenecks. Manages and handles queries and issues as they surface in day to day import and export execution.
  • Maintenance of HS commodity code classification, country of origin, preferential status and other relevant import / export data in MSA tools (eg. SAP) and pro-active updating of relevant business partners with this data, including customs agents, forwarders and (intercompany) suppliers
  • HS commodity code classification of products with help from product management, R+D, suppliers and MSA Global Trade Management

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in Import / Export / Customs operations, including working with various Moroccan customs regimes such as Temporary Admission and standard import and export procedures. Preferrably this experience has been gained in a manufacturing environment, with hands-on expertise in designing, implementing and managing end-to-end customs processes, collaborating with business partners such as Customs Brokers, Suppliers, Freight Forwarders and Customs authorities. Experience in textiles industry is preferred.
