Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning to Year 1 pupils in line with the school's curriculum framework, ensuring outstanding academic progress, strong behaviour management, and excellent pastoral care in a safe, stimulating learning environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons for Year 1 pupils.
• Teach in line with the British Curriculum or Cambridge International Curriculum.
• Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning, and achievement.
• Use assessment to monitor progress and inform planning.
• Provide appropriate support, challenge, and differentiation.

Assessment & Progress

• Assess, record, and report on pupils' attainment and progress.
• Maintain accurate pupil records.
• Attend progress meetings and contribute to intervention planning where necessary.

Classroom Environment

• Create a safe, attractive, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Ensure classroom displays celebrate pupils' work and support learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and strong routines.

Pastoral Care

• Promote pupils' wellbeing, safety, and personal development.
• Maintain positive communication with parents.
• Safeguard pupils at all times in line with school policy.

Professional Responsibilities

• Work effectively as part of a team.
• Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Contribute to school life, events, and extracurricular activities.
• Follow all school policies, including safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related subject.
• Teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in primary education, ideally Year 1.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Desirable (Advantageous)

• Experience of working with the British National Curriculum.
• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
• Experience with the Cambridge Curriculum.
• Experience teaching in an international school.
