Main Skills:

  1. CAD design
Experience with tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Onshape, FreeCAD, or similar CAD software.
  2. 3D printing design principles
Knowledge of tolerances, supports, overhangs, wall thickness, infill, shrinkage, and print orientation.
  3. Slicing software knowledge
Familiarity with Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Simplify3D, or similar slicing tools.
  4. Mechanical prototyping
Ability to design, print, test, revise, and validate mechanical parts quickly.
  5. File formats and geometry handling
Understanding of STL, STEP, OBJ, 3MF, mesh repair, scaling, and model preparation.
  6. Basic scripting or automation
Basic knowledge of Python, CAD automation, parametric modeling, or batch processing for print files.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design mechanical parts optimized for 3D printing.
  2. Support the design-to-print workflow, including CAD, slicing, model preparation, and print job setup.
  3. Validate models for printability, geometry errors, support requirements, tolerances, and material limitations.
  4. Create and improve mechanical design standards for printable parts, fixtures, and printer components.
  5. Collaborate with software developers on slicing, nesting, print preparation, and printer farm software.
  6. Analyze failed prints and identify whether issues are caused by design, slicing, materials, machine calibration, or software settings.

Requirements

Typical Tasks:

  1. Create CAD models for printer parts, jigs, fixtures, enclosures, mounts, trays, and product prototypes.
  2. Prepare models for printing by exporting STL/3MF files, checking mesh quality, orienting parts, and defining supports.
  3. Test slicer settings such as layer height, speed, temperature, retraction, cooling, supports, brim, and raft settings.
  4. Review internal or customer models and suggest improvements for better printability.
  5. Build design guidelines for wall thickness, clearance fits, hole compensation, snap-fit rules, and tolerances.
  6. Support workflow automation, including batch model checking, automatic orientation, and print job preparation templates.

Requirements:
  • Candidates should have hands-on experience with 3D printing or similar hardware systems.
  • Candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting technical problems, documenting their work clearly, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and working in an iterative development environment.

The ideal candidates should also understand that our focus is not only on prototyping, but also on building reliable systems that can operate consistently across printer farms and production environments
