Areas of research and Expertise

The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) is seeking a motivated and qualified Research Assistant in Mineral Processing. The ideal candidate will have academic training and interest in:

• • Flotation, gravity separation, magnetic and electrostatic separation.
  • Ore characterization and process mineralogy.
  • Laboratory and pilot-scale testing of mineral beneficiation processes.
  • Hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy knowledge.
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation in mineral processing.

Job Description

The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Mineral Processing.

We are seeking candidates with strong academic backgrounds in mineral processing, particularly those with hands-on experience in mineral characterization, beneficiation testing, and laboratory procedures. The Research Assistant will support applied research projects aligned with GSMI’s mission to advance sustainable mineral resource development.

Key Responsibilities:

• • Assist in laboratory- and pilot-scale mineral processing experiments.
  • Perform sample preparation, ore characterization, and data analysis.
  • Operate mineral processing and analytical instruments.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports and publications.
  • Collaborate with researchers and students on various project activities.
  • Participate in regular project reviews and research meetings.
  • The selected candidate will be involved in research projects focused on the beneficiation of phosphate ores, contributing to process development and experimental testing.

Contract Details:
This position is offered as a 1-year renewable fixed-term contract, subject to performance and project needs.

Qualifications

• • Master’s degree or engineering diploma in mineral processing, metallurgical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
  • Good background in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
  • Internship or academic project experience in mineral processing.
  • Practical experience in laboratory experiments related to mineral beneficiation.
  • Familiarity with mineralogical and analytical techniques.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred qualifications

• • Experience with pilot-scale mineral processing equipment.
  • Familiarity with software tools for data analysis or process simulation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
