Full-Stack Developer (Medior/Senior) — PHP/Laravel & Next.js
At Omnia, we develop digital solutions that help businesses move forward. We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Developer to join our development team in a long-term, fully remote position.
You will work across both existing applications and new development, with a strong focus on PHP/Laravel for the backend and Next.js/React for the frontend.
A significant part of the role involves working with existing and legacy applications. You should be comfortable entering an unfamiliar codebase, understanding how it works, solving problems independently, and gradually modernizing functionality without unnecessarily disrupting existing systems.
Just as importantly, you will be working as part of a development team. We value developers who communicate their ideas, coordinate changes with others, and make important technical decisions collaboratively rather than changing shared systems independently.
Your role
As a Full-Stack Developer, you will:
- Develop and maintain backend applications using PHP and Laravel
- Build modern frontend applications using Next.js, React and TypeScript
- Analyze and work with existing PHP codebases
- Gradually migrate and modernize legacy functionality
- Design and integrate REST APIs
- Work with MySQL and relational data models
- Debug complex problems across frontend and backend systems
- Identify root causes rather than simply patching symptoms
- Refactor existing code where it provides clear value
- Identify technical debt and propose practical improvements
- Write clean, maintainable and testable code
- Participate in technical discussions and architecture decisions
- Coordinate changes with other developers before modifying shared functionality or architecture
- Review code and provide constructive feedback to other developers
- Estimate technical work and communicate progress clearly
- Document important technical decisions and system behavior when necessary What we’re looking for We are primarily looking for strong professional experience with:
- PHP
- Laravel
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- React
- Next.js
- MySQL or other relational databases
- REST APIs
- Git
- Linux-based development environments Experience maintaining or modernizing existing or legacy production applications is particularly valuable. You should be comfortable investigating code you didn’t write, tracing existing behavior and dependencies, and deciding whether functionality should be fixed, refactored, migrated or replaced. Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required. The kind of developer we’re looking for We’re not looking for someone who simply completes tickets, but we’re also not looking for someone who works in isolation and makes significant changes without involving the team. We value developers who:
- Take ownership of their work
- Deliver reliable, high-quality solutions
- Work independently when appropriate while remaining aligned with the team
- Take initiative by identifying problems and proposing solutions
- Discuss significant changes before implementing them
- Respect existing technical decisions and understand their context before replacing them
- Consider how their changes affect other developers and parts of the system
- Investigate before making changes
- Think critically about technical decisions
- Look for the root cause of problems
- Communicate clearly with developers and non-technical colleagues
- Ask good questions when requirements are unclear
- Give and receive constructive technical feedback
- Collaborate on architecture and shared technical decisions
- Balance technical quality with practical business requirements
- Are comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and technologies You don’t need to know everything. What matters is your ability to investigate unfamiliar problems, learn quickly, communicate your reasoning, collaborate with others, and take responsibility for the quality of your work.
What we offer
- A fully remote position
- Full-time employment (40 hours per week)
- Long-term collaboration
- A collaborative international development team
- Challenging technical work across both existing and modern applications
- The opportunity to contribute to technical and architectural decisions
- Room to take ownership and introduce improvements
- Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility
- Training and knowledge sharing within the team
- Competitive compensation based on your experience and expertise Who we are Omnia is a digital company providing white-label technical support to agencies across Europe. We work with digital agencies that want to expand their capabilities without scaling every function internally. As a strategic and technical partner, we provide expertise in software development, automation and digital optimization behind the scenes of our partners. We combine technical expertise with hands-on execution to help our partners deliver reliable, high-quality digital solutions. Application Along with your CV, please answer the following questions. 1. Experience How many years of professional software-development experience do you have? Briefly describe your experience with PHP/Laravel and React/Next.js, and tell us which side of the stack you consider your strongest. 2. Legacy systems Tell us briefly about an existing or legacy application you have worked on. What made it challenging, and how did you approach understanding the system before making significant changes? 3. Technical decision-making Imagine you encounter a large piece of working legacy PHP code that eventually needs to become part of a modern Laravel application. How would you decide whether to refactor it, rewrite it, or temporarily leave it unchanged? 4. Teamwork and initiative While working on your assigned task, you discover that part of the existing architecture could be significantly improved. Changing it would also affect code maintained by other developers. How would you approach this situation? 5. Problem solving Tell us about a difficult technical problem or production bug you have investigated. How did you determine the root cause, and how did you solve it? 6. Availability Are you available to work 40 hours per week in a fully remote position? 7. Salary expectation What is your expected gross monthly salary in MAD? Selection process Candidates whose experience matches the position will be invited to continue through our selection process. Selected applicants may receive a practical technical assignment designed to evaluate problem-solving, code quality, collaboration mindset and technical decision-making, followed by a technical interview with members of our development team.
