Junior CSS Developer

A major regional finance group is currently engaging our firm to review its internal governance and strategic decision making processes. At JHC Consulting, we translate complex organizational problems into rigorous, written arguments. As a Junior CSS Developer, you will support our principals by ensuring that the digital frameworks and internal tools we use to present this counsel are clear, functional, and professional. This role focuses on the structural and visual presentation of our memoranda, where the legibility of the text is as important as the analysis itself.

The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and refining the styling of our proprietary internal tools used for drafting and archived storage. Your day to day work will involve writing and refining CSS to ensure that our digital documents are refined, readable, and consistent across different screen sizes. You will work closely with our documentation leads to translate structural requirements into clean code. This includes managing typography, spacing, and layout logic to support a reading experience that is free from distraction. Because we do not use slide decks, the precision of our digital document layout is paramount. You will help troubleshoot layout issues, ensure web accessibility standards are met, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal style libraries.

What You Bring
We are looking for an individual who is early in their career but possesses a solid foundational knowledge of CSS and HTML. You should understand the principles of responsive design and have some familiarity with modern layout methods like Flexbox or Grid. An eye for typography and a respect for the discipline of the written word are essential, as our work is text heavy. You need to be comfortable working with version control systems like Git and have a basic understanding of how to maintain a clean codebase. While this is an entry level role, we value candidates who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual maturity and the ability to work independently on technical tasks once the requirements are set. Previous exposure to web development through personal projects, an internship, or a formal training program is helpful.
