Role Description

The Junior Accountant role at Path Accountants is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting and tax activities for SMEs and self-employed clients. In this role, the Junior Accountant will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, posting journal entries, and reconciling bank and ledger accounts. The position includes preparing basic financial reports, supporting bookkeeping tasks, and helping compile information for tax filings and compliance documentation. The Junior Accountant will communicate with senior team members to clarify client requirements, ensure data accuracy, and follow established accounting procedures. This role also involves working with digital accounting tools, organizing documentation, and meeting agreed deadlines while collaborating with the wider accounting team.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and basic financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Excel or similar tools) and comfort working with cloud-based systems.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple client records and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow established processes and compliance standards.
  • Interest in tax compliance for SMEs and self-employed individuals; prior exposure to tax preparation or payroll is an advantage.
  • Relevant degree in Accounting and Finance. ENCG or ISCAE ideal.
  • Prior internship or junior-level experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is beneficial but not strictly required.
  • Fluent in English
