JHC Consulting is opening a position for a Business Analyst Intern to support our current mandate with a regional financial services provider. This role is designed for a junior professional who values the clarity of the written word over the convenience of a conversation. As a firm, we pride ourselves on providing direct counsel to boards and chief executives based on a rigorous reading of evidence. This is a full-time, fully remote internship that places you at the center of serious advisory work where the quality of thought is the only measure of success.
The Role
In this role, your primary task is the synthesis of complex information. You will spend much of your time reading internal reports, financial statements, and strategy papers provided by our client. You will be expected to map the logic of a business case, identify the core assumptions, and look for discrepancies in the narrative. Unlike many consulting firms, we do not produce slide decks or participate in the typical ceremonies of corporate advisory. Your work will manifest as text. In your day-to-day work, you will:
  • Read and summarize high volumes of internal corporate records and board minutes.
  • Conduct research on regulatory and market conditions affecting the regional financial services sector.
  • Draft background sections of formal memoranda that will be reviewed by company principals.
  • Verify the accuracy of data points and ensure every claim in a document is supported by a cited source.
  • Identify logic gaps in client business cases and draft written queries for the advisory team.
  • Maintain the internal repository of client documents and analytical findings.

What You Bring
We are looking for an individual with an analytical mind and a high degree of intellectual discipline. You may be a recent graduate or currently finishing a degree in economics, business, or the humanities. What matters most is your ability to write clearly and think critically. Requirements for this entry-level role include:
  • A high standard of written English and the ability to compose structured, logical prose.
  • The patience to conduct deep reading of long, technical documents without losing focus.
  • The ability to extract key themes from messy or contradictory sets of information.
  • Basic familiarity with business terminology and financial reporting standards.
  • A preference for independent work and the ability to manage your own time effectively.
  • A high degree of discretion when handling confidential client data.
  • Curiosity about how large organizations make decisions and a willingness to question assumptions.

How We Work
At JHC Consulting, we believe that if you cannot write a thought down, you have not fully formed it yet. Every piece of work we deliver is a signed memorandum. This creates a standard of individual accountability that is rare in larger firms. We work in a decentralized, remote structure where your output is your primary form of communication. We value the single author model where one person is responsible for the logic and clarity of a page. This internship offers a look into how high-level advisory decisions are made and how the strength of an argument can influence corporate direction. You will be expected to defend your analysis and accept rigorous edits on your drafts.

Working at JHC Consulting
This firm is small and intentional. We operate entirely remotely, providing our staff with the autonomy to manage their schedule around the demands of deep analytical work. There is no requirement to visit an office or participate in unnecessary video calls. This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for the internship market. We avoid the typical distractions of corporate management, such as long email threads or performative meetings. Instead, we focus on the document. By working with us, you will learn to use writing as a tool of clarity. You will be treated with professional respect, provided your work meets our standards of rigor and accuracy.
Every word we send to a client is a matter of record. When a principal signs a memorandum, it becomes a permanent part of the client's corporate history. As a Business Analyst Intern, you contribute to that record. This role requires a person who understands that their name on a document is a commitment to the truth of the analysis. We do not offer quick answers or generic advice. We offer a disciplined, dissenting view that helps leaders make better decisions through the scrutiny of written argument.
