Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Credit Control Professional to oversee the daily operations of our credit control team, develop and implement effective credit policies, and maintain healthy cash flow by minimizing overdue debt.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the credit control team, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and improve cash flow, analyzing financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding debts and initiate collection efforts, communicating effectively with customers to resolve disputes and negotiate repayment plans.
  • Set and review credit limits based on risk assessments, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Negotiate repayment plans with clients where necessary, resolving conflicts and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Regularly review the aged debtors report and provide updates to senior management, recommending actions to minimize overdue debt.
  • Evaluate and recommend new systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the credit control function.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding debt collection, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers while enforcing payment terms, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Liaise with the sales and legal teams regarding problem accounts, coordinating efforts to resolve issues and prevent further disputes.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports on accounts receivable performance and KPIs, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members in credit control procedures and customer service, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Recommend accounts for legal action or write-off when appropriate, making informed decisions based on financial analysis and regulatory guidelines.

    Requirements:

    • Degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in credit control with high volume transaction processing in financial ERP, at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
    • CICM qualification desirable.
    • Systems experience desirable but not essential, BC & Salesforce.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to motivate and develop team members.
    • Excellent communication, analytical mindset, and negotiation abilities, with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to evaluate complex financial data and make informed decisions.
    • High attention to detail and organizational ability, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools, with ability to analyze and present complex data.
