Family Practice NP Job in Massachusetts

We are currently seeking a qualified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens position at a correctional facility in Massachusetts. This assignment involves providing essential medical care to patients in a unique setting, while enjoying the flexibility and benefits of locum tenens work.
The ideal candidate will have experience in family medicine with a focus on addiction medicine and some familiarity with prenatal care. They should be comfortable with daily rounds of 20-30 patients, managing detox cases, collaborating with dental teams, and handling administrative tasks.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM, with rounds starting at 7:30 AM. This opportunity offers a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while enjoying the benefits of locum tenens work.
Job Requirements:
- Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts
- Experience with ERMA (Electronic Records Management Application) preferred
- Comfortable working in a correctional environment
- Strong communication and time management skills required
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily rounds of 20-30 patients, starting at 7:30 AM
- Manage and treat patients in the medical unit, with a focus on detox cases
- Review patient issues and reasons for medical housing
- Collaborate with dental team to clear patients for extractions
- Handle administrative work, including timely email responses
- Occasionally round on sick patients within specific time windows
- Provide care for patients with opioid use disorder
- Consult on prenatal care cases as needed
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Adhere to all safety and security protocols specific to the correctional setting
