Optical Specialist Role

As an Optical Specialist, you will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to both adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. You will advise and assist patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of optical products and business practices, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. They will also possess the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional customer service to members.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Verify order data entry and compare Rx to original Rx provided from the doctor
  • Complete proper order filing procedures, including filing the order under the correct ABC system in the store
  • Deliver sales by providing excellent Member service in person and over the phone
  • Takes measurements, assures correct frame selection for Rx power, reads prescriptions on the lensometer, timely notification of product readiness and advancement of the order in the system

Requirements include a license to work as an optician within the state and keeping it up-to-date and active. A high school diploma, college degree, or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred.
