Our client is a fast-growing company that makes it easy for digital nomads worldwide to own foreign accounts. They help freelancers, remote workers, gig workers, and businesses create USD, EUR, and GBP foreign accounts to easily send, receive,save, and spend foreign currency.
They are a registered Delaware company and have a fully remote team across Brazil, Canada, Egypt, India, Germany, Morocco, Singapore, Nigeria, Tanzania, the UK, and the USA.
The Opportunity
As market research consultant and local translator in Morocco, you will support strategic market research initiatives across Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt to help us transition from beta operations to full-scale market presence.
You will be in charge of conducting comprehensive market research, facilitating stakeholder meetings, and providing cultural intelligence that will shape their expansion strategy. You're not just translating and researching; you'll be our cultural bridge and strategic advisor, helping us understand local markets, build key relationships, and make informed decisions about our expansion. You will work closely with our marketing and product teams during intensive research trips to gather insights that will directly impact our growth strategy.
The ideal candidate has a blend of research expertise, cultural intelligence, language mastery, and strong business networks across MENA. You will work directly with our product growth and global marketing team during research trips and ongoing strategic projects. This role is a 3-month project-based position with potential for ongoing collaboration.
What you'll do includes, but is not limited to:
Conduct comprehensive market research across fintech and cross-border payment sectors in MENA.
Provide expert cultural guidance for business practices, communication, and market navigation.
Translate complex financial and technical concepts across Arabic, French, and English with precision.
Facilitate culturally appropriate stakeholder meetings with government officials, banking institutions, and industry leaders.
Design and conduct customer interviews, focus groups, and market research sessions.
Analyze competitive landscapes and identify market opportunities and threats.
Research regulatory environments, compliance requirements, and banking infrastructure.
Identify and connect with key industry stakeholders, potential partners, and influencers.
Coordinate meetings with regulatory bodies, fintech companies, and potential business partners.
Gather insights on customer pain points, preferences, and behavior patterns across different segments.
Assess local partnership opportunities with banks, payment processors, and technology providers.
Support relationship building with media contacts, business leaders, and community influencers.
Document cultural nuances affecting product adoption, user behavior, and market penetration.
Translate and adapt research methodologies to local cultural contexts and business practices.
Manage stakeholder communications, follow-up activities, and relationship maintenance.
Create comprehensive market analysis reports with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
Develop cultural adaptation guidelines for product positioning, messaging, and customer communication.
Build stakeholder relationship maps and provide ongoing relationship management advice.
You'll be a great fit if you meet these criteria:
5+ years in market research, business development, or consulting with a proven track record.
3+ years specific experience in MENA financial services, fintech, or banking sector.
Native fluency in Arabic and French with professional-level English communication.
Deep understanding of MENA business culture, practices, and regulatory environments.
Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and relationship building across government and private sectors.
Knowledge of banking regulations and fintech landscape across Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt.
Established network of contacts in government, banking, technology, and business sectors.
Experience navigating regulatory environments and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and report writing capabilities with attention to detail.
Proficiency in research tools, data analysis software, and survey design.
Experience translating technical and financial terminology accurately.
Understanding of Islamic finance principles and local payment preferences.
Excellent cross-cultural communication and facilitation skills.
Strong presentation skills and ability to work with international teams.
Ability to work independently and manage complex, multi-country projects.
Flexible travel schedule and ability to work extended hours during research trips.
Professional representation skills for stakeholder meetings and business development.
Nice to have:
Advanced degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, or related field.
Previous experience with international financial services companies or consulting firms.
Background in emerging markets expansion or market entry projects.
Experience with digital nomad, remote work, or freelancer communities.
Knowledge of cross-border payment systems, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
Existing relationships with MENA banking institutions and government officials.
Connections with fintech entrepreneurs, industry experts, and business media.
Network of contacts in co-working spaces and digital nomad communities.
Certification in market research, business analysis, or related fields.
Understanding of visa processes and business travel requirements across target countries.
