Description
Africa50 is an infrastructure investor and asset manager that contributes to Africa's growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalysing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding.

Africa50 has raised over US$1 billion so far from 33 African countries, the African Development Bank, two African Central Banks and Africa's largest pension fund. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors: Energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), Midstream gas, Transportation, ICT, Health infrastructure, Education and Fintech.

Purpose of the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative individual that will help create and carry out a comprehensive strategy that advances the organization's mission and objectives. This role involves close collaboration with colleagues in content creation, digital outreach, and event coordination, blending strategic planning, content production, digital communication, and event management to deliver clear, steady, and effective messaging across all platforms.

Principal Responsibilities
The Communications Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Communications, other departments and senior leadership in the research, design and implementation of the communications strategies
  • Lead in the planning and the delivery of internal and external communications activities, ensuring consistent messaging
  • Write, edit, and enhance presentations, newsletters, articles, promotional materials, across multiple platforms
  • Foster relations across teams in identifying, developing and distributing communications that support and reinforce Africa50 messages, goals and objectives
  • Assist in the identification and improvement of communications channels that are user-friendly and regularly accessed by employees and key target audiences
  • Create effective content about important updates, news, events and changes
  • Identifying and implementing metrics to measure and track the effectiveness of communications efforts
  • Apply diplomacy and decorum at all times in different types of situations and organizational settings
  • Manage production suppliers, monitor quality and ensure the timely delivery of communications materials
  • Actively build and cultivate relationships with team members, peers, leadership and employees across the organization
  • Coordinate and/or support events and meetings hosted by Africa50
  • Ensure communications adhere to brand standards and internal policies
  • Plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously and independently to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to convey information creatively and graphically using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite software.

Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years internal and/or external communications, digital media management and event coordination
  • Strong time management, coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex environments and team dynamics
  • Excellent proofing and editing skills with high levels of attention to detail and quality
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is willing to support projects outside of core responsibilities to support team goals
  • Experience coordinating and hosting large-scale global events
  • Ability and willingness to travel to different countries for events, meetings and client engagement activities
  • Knowledge of design and video software (i.e. Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Publisher)
  • Experience with CMS, social media platforms, and analytics tools.

Language Requirements
Superior written and verbal communication skills in English and French. Other languages are a plus.
