Overview:

Inuka is working with a renewable energy company to appoint an Environment & Permitting Manager in Morocco. The role oversees all permitting, environmental, social, and stakeholder engagement activities to secure approvals, ensure regulatory and ESG compliance, and maintain strong relationships with authorities and communities across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all permitting and licensing processes and maintain a clear permitting roadmap.
  • Serve as the main liaison with Moroccan regulators and permitting authorities.
  • Identify regulatory risks and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Oversee ESIA processes and ensure integration of E&S requirements into project design.
  • Manage external consultants and support development of ESMPs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, communities, utilities, and NGOs.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, public consultations, and land-related negotiations.
  • Maintain risk registers and provide regular status reporting to project leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, ESG standards, and lender requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 8–12+ years' experience in permitting, environmental management, or stakeholder engagement for major industrial or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Moroccan permitting and environmental regulations.
  • Proven experience with ESIA processes and government approvals.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
  • Fluency in French and English; Arabic preferred.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Law, or related field.
  • Experience in renewables, heavy industry, or IFC/Equator Principles is an advantage.
