Job purpose

Act as Deputy -legal Counsel and support the Chief Compliance Officer of the entity regarding Legal, Corporate Governance, Compliance, Contract Management and Data privacy matter for India, UK and Morocco location. The Support also entails coordinating with different teams to guarantee awareness and compliance to relevant regulations (Data protection Laws, Criminal Laws, Conflict of Interest, Sanctions, AI regulation.. ) in the different processes.

Position mission and main activities

• Assist the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in overseeing legal, compliance, and corporate governance functions across India, UK, and Morocco locations.

• Provide legal support and guidance on a wide range of issues including contracts, regulatory compliance, data privacy, and corporate governance.

• Support Contract Management Designing process and Assurance to ensure compliance with applicable SOP and company policies.

• Monitor and ensure adherence to local laws and regulations in India (Must have) , UK, and Morocco, including corporate governance standards.

• Support the development and implementation of Group Standards and Policies procedures, and training programs for the organization.

• Assist in managing legal risks by identifying potential legal issues and proposing mitigation strategies

• Coordinate with external legal advisors and law firms as required for specialized legal matters.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy laws such as GDPR (UK/EU), applicable local data protection laws, and other relevant regulations

• Support the management of legal disputes and litigation by liaising with external counsel and internal stakeholders.

• Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and changes in legislation affecting the organization's operations.

• Act as a point of contact for legal and compliance queries from internal teams across the specified regions.

• Prepare reports and updates for senior management on legal and compliance matters.

• Participate in internal audits and compliance reviews to ensure ongoing adherence to legal standards.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Legal Head or Chief Compliance Officer to support organizational legal and compliance objectives.

Candidate's profile

• Degree in law from reputed institute (minimum qualification LLB, knowledge or certificate on French law, UK or Morocco is a plus);
• Commercial legal experience in law firm(s) and/or in-house.
• A previous Data Privacy / Compliance experience (at least Master graduate or equivalent – Legal or IT Security) is preferable
• Minimum 8+ years' solid legal experience in legal, compliance DP matter

Technical expertise

• Understanding of customer activities to identify the risks and issues in their environment and implement efficient solutions with minimum impacts on the day-to-day work.
• High level of understanding of Shared Services Business and related legal/regulatory items.
• Ability to provide advice regarding legal matters in accordance with AXA's strategy.
• Ability to identify legal and reputational risks.
• Delivering legally compliant documentation with favorable provisions and in line with best available market practice.

Transaction Management / Negotiation & Drafting Skills

• Ability to negotiate and draft complex legal documentation in English.
• Ability to draft internal presentations and memos for internal clients including CRO, CEO, CCO, Executive Committee, Board.
