We are sourcing on behalf of MEVP, a Middle East-focused venture capital firm that invests in the early and growth stages of innovative technology companies run by talented entrepreneurs in the Middle East Region with a focus on the GCC and Levant countries.

With offices in Dubai, Riyadh, Beirut, Cairo, and Amman and more than USD 300 million in Assets Under Management, MEVP is the largest and most established VC firm in this region, with clear cross-border investment appetite.

About the role

We are looking to hire an Investment Associate or Associate Director to join our team in Morocco, helping to expand MEVP's presence in North Africa and deepen our reach across Francophone Africa.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments, as well as contributing to portfolio value creation and firm-level strategy. This is a unique opportunity to take on regional leadership responsibilities within a top-tier VC platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Screen opportunities to invest in start-ups across a complete range of technology verticals and assess fit, if any, with MEVP's investment thesis
• Play a role in the entire process, from deal acquisition to intensive analysis of the company, deal structuring and negotiation, and active support through to the exit
• Meet with entrepreneurs, work with different people, and get to know numerous industries and new business models every day
• Attend local tech and Startup related conferences (e.g. Gitex, etc.) across Morocco and act as an ambassador for MEVP
• Form and keep close contact with relevant stakeholders across Morocco (Entrepreneurs, DFIs, Fund of Funds, partner VCs, co-investors, etc.)
• Help prepare investment memoranda by assembling data from multiple sources to develop and produce coherent investment recommendations
• Support the drafting and negotiation of investment term sheets and legal documents
• Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and management
• Drive all aspects of due diligence, including researching customer references, assessing competitive positioning, modeling finances and unit economics, understanding macro trends and more
• Contribute to the firm's fundraising, operations, and processes
• Assist in the reporting process and fund metrics calculations
• Occasional travel to Dubai and other MENA countries such as KSA, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon

Specific tasks include:

• Perform research and conduct expert interviews to establish market data points trends including market size, growth drivers etc.
• Develop detailed financial models or enhance already built models by embedding scenario analysis on key drivers
• Monitor portfolio companies through regular reporting, and support the Finance Team with reporting to Limited Partners (LPs)
• Research and support in the drafting of thought leadership pieces (articles, presentations, publications) and Press Releases

Candidate qualifications & traits:

• Based in Casablanca, with willingness to occasionally travel across the region
• 3-5 years of work experience ideally, from the VC world, a start-up and/or other high-performance environments, such as private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting
• Strong understanding of the African and Moroccan tech ecosystems, with a network of relevant relationships being a plus.
• Fluent in Arabic, French and English
• Think outside the box and out of the comfort zone
• Strong analytical skills, hands-on mentality and a lot of team spirit
• Detail-orientated and meticulous with an uncompromising desire for timeliness and accuracy of data
• High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges
