Head of Green Iron

Overview:
Inuka is working with a renewable energy company to recruit a Head of Green Iron based in Morocco. This role will lead the company's green iron strategy in-country, overseeing project origination, development, and stakeholder engagement to deliver bankable green iron projects aligned with the company's global industrial decarbonisation roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the green iron strategy for Morocco, aligned with global development priorities.
- Build and manage a pipeline of green iron projects, partnerships, and JV opportunities.
- Lead end-to-end project development from early concept through feasibility, FEED, and FID.
- Coordinate technical, energy supply, infrastructure, ESG, permitting, and commercial workstreams.
- Act as the primary external interface with partners, government bodies, regulators, utilities, and offtakers.
- Lead negotiations of development frameworks, JV terms, and commercial agreements.
- Own project economics, offtake structures, CAPEX/OPEX assumptions, and funding strategies.
- Ensure projects meet internal technical, commercial, and ESG thresholds through disciplined stage-gates.
- Build and lead a high-performing local development team, working closely with global teams.
- Provide regular reporting and investment materials for senior leadership and investment committees.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years' experience in large-scale project development within heavy industry, energy, mining, steel, or industrial infrastructure.
- Proven track record delivering complex projects in emerging or regulated markets.
- Strong understanding of project finance and bankability for capital-intensive developments.
- Experience managing senior stakeholders including JV partners, governments, regulators, and industrial offtakers.
- Exposure to green hydrogen, DRI/green iron, or green steel value chains preferred.
- Engineering degree preferred.
- Fluency in English required; French and/or Arabic strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in Morocco or the wider MENA region is an advantage.
