Exploring Species Boundaries and Evolutionary Dynamics of Moroccan Amaryllidaceae Using Molecular Taxonomy, Genomics, and Bioinformatics Approaches

Project Description:

This PhD project aims to explore species boundaries and unravel the evolutionary dynamics of Moroccan Amaryllidaceae through an integrative approach combining molecular taxonomy, genomics, and bioinformatics. By analyzing genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationships within this ecologically and medicinally important plant family, the project will provide new insights into speciation, adaptation, and conservation priorities in the region. The candidate will have access to cutting-edge molecular techniques and computational tools to generate and analyze large-scale genomic datasets.

Candidate Specification:

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in plant molecular biology, evolutionary biology, or a related field. Experience in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics tools (e.g., for phylogenetics, genome assembly, or population genetics) is highly desirable. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline and good communication and analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) and a keen interest in plant biodiversity and evolution will be advantageous.

Scholarship Details:

This PhD position is fully funded for a duration of three to four years. The scholarship will cover full tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses throughout the study period. This comprehensive support allows the successful candidate to fully dedicate themselves to their research and academic development.
